Advanced Legal Research Instruction: New Opportunities in Blended Learning

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Washington College of Law offers an advanced legal research course in both traditional and hybrid/blended formats. The hybrid/blended format consists of (1) a full-day, in-person legal boot camp to begin the course and (2) synchronous and asynchronous online instruction.

Advanced legal research is well-suited for blended learning because it’s a skills-based course that involves the introduction of a skill followed by application of the skill through problem-based exercises.

The presentation will (1) provide an overview of the blended course offered at WCL, including the platform used; (2) include a discussion of how the course fits within ABA Standards 304 and 306; and (3) conclude with a brainstorming session of additional ways of using blended instruction to further experiential learning.
